Trends in Brick-and-Mortar Retail

3:00–4:00  /  Chapel Hill

Anna Bullard  BookShop West Portal
Cindy Daniel  SHED

What’s the unique experience of brick-and-mortar shops in the age of online retail?

This is an informative discussion between Anna Bullard, owner of BookShop West Portal in San Francisco, and Cindy Daniel, co-founder of SHED, the café, food market, and retail shop in Healdsburg. Learn how they select and curate products for their stores, what consumer trends they’re noticing, the type of retail experience they strive to provide, and how books fit into the larger retail landscape. These successful shop owners will share the unique advantages and challenges of brick-and-mortar, and provide insight as to where retail might be headed in the future. For anyone curious about how books are selected and sold both in indie bookstores and non-bookstore gift accounts, this is sure to be an illuminating session.
