Risa Culbertson

PapaLlama

Risa Culbertson started her printmaking business, PapaLlama, in San Francisco shortly after uncovering a family woodcarving set. Using the tools available to her, she built her thriving business from humble beginnings into an online retail and wholesale line found in over 250 stores domestically and internationally. In 2013, she co-founded a brick and mortar printmaking studio and retail space in San Francisco.

As Risa scaled her business, she taught herself to use and maintain antique letterpress machinery. Her understanding of letterpress machinery allows her to increase production while maintaining the handmade look and feel of her products.

She studied at California State University Fullerton and earned her business degree with a focus on entrepreneurship. Risa takes pride in helping others bridge the gap between being a creative person and building a business that works.
