Born and raised in Tokyo, Aya came to San Francisco to study graphic design and has been living in this hometown of her choice ever since. By day, she is an art/creative director running beauty campaigns for bold nudes to unicorn looks. By night, she experiments with the endless possibilities of colors and forms—her illustrations have adorned product lines ranging from origami papers to paper mobiles to CD packaging. Prior to pursuing the career of a storyteller in the world of retail marketing, she had spent nearly a decade being a maker of all things printed in the world of publishing. Her work has been recognized by AIGA Design Annual, Communication Arts, Print Magazine, and Type Directors Club Design Annual among other publications.
